Requirements on CMS



The Hosting Device must meet the hardware and software requirements defined in the HP Insight
Remote Support Release Notes and summarized in the Hardware, Operating System, Software,
Access, and Communication Requirements sections below.


Operating System Requirements
Insight Remote Support 7.0 can be installed on a ProLiant server or on a VMware guest.
The following Microsoft Windows 2008 versions are supported:
 Microsoft Windows 2008 with English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Traditional
Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese International Server
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard for x64 including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise for x64 including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Datacenter for x64 including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard 32-Bit including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise 32-Bit including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Datacenter 32-Bit including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Web Server 2008 including Service Packs
 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 including Service Pack 1
 Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 Standard edition
 Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 Advanced edition

The following VMware versions are supported:
 VMware ESX 3.x, 4.0 and 4.1 including Update versions
 VMware ESXi 3.5, 4.0, 4.1 and 5.0 including Update versions
Note: Starting with HP SIM 7.0, all x86 operating systems are no longer supported for the Central
Management Server. Please take this into account if you intent to synchronize with HP SIM,
as x86 operating systems are supported for the Hosting Device by HP Insight Remote
Support.

Software Requirements
The following browsers are supported for Insight Remote Support:
Microsoft Internet Explorer, versions 8.x and 9.x
Note: When using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 8.x, rapid selections of the main menu
drop-down list can cause the user interface to hang and display a black screen. If you
encounter this behavior, HP recommends using the 32-bit version of Internet
Explorer 8.x or using Internet Explorer 9.x.
 Mozilla Firefox, versions 7.x and 8.x

.NET Framework Requirements
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or later is required.

Communication Requirements
Insight Remote Support communicates over HTTPS/443 to submit incidents to and retrieve
entitlement information from the HP Support Center.
HTTPS provides encryption for confidentiality of software configuration data collected from the
Hosting Device and transferred to HP. HP recommends you configure your firewall before installing
Insight Remote Support. If your policies require IP addresses, see the HP Insight Remote Support
Security White Paper for details.

Protocol HTTPS
Insight Remote Support communicate directly with the HP Support Center through the firewall or
web proxy server (if a web proxy server is in use). Insight Remote Support supports connecting
directly to the Internet or connecting through a proxy server and supports all proxy servers
conforming to the HTTP/1.0 Specification. Insight Remote Support does not support proxies using
proxy auto-configuration scripts, NTLM authentication (also known as Integrated Windows
Authentication), or Kerberos authentication.

Verify that it passes any HTTP 1.0 standard protocol
between the Hosting Device and the HP Support Center, so that it meets the communication
requirement (TCP 443 outbound with established back).
